The Process
I explore the inner workings of your manuscript to identify what’s going well and pinpoint what’s not. From there, I can suggest concrete steps and creative solutions that demystify the rewriting process and transform it into a more rewarding, productive experience that ends with a better book.

“Julie Mosow pairs a keen editorial eye with great creative vision and enormous compassion. Most importantly, she is dedicated to honoring the story at hand and each author's unique voice. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to work with her, and her insight has benefited my work enormously.”

Congratulations! Finishing a book is a huge accomplishment. If you’d like to talk about working with me, please fill out my contact form and send me the first 50 pages (and a synopsis if you have one). Then, we can set up a consultation to see if we’re a good match.

A manuscript evaluation typically takes 2-3 weeks. I will return an annotated version of your manuscript as well as an editorial letter detailing what’s working, what’s not working, and how fix it.
-
I am happy to set up a second read as a separate engagement from the initial manuscript evaluation. I do occasionally read manuscripts a third time depending on your goals and the work we’re doing together, but there are generally diminishing returns to me reading more than three times.
-
I do not read partial manuscripts. Your novel does not need to be perfectly developed for me to read it, but it should, at the very least, have a beginning, middle, and end.

I don’t provide agent research or recommendations, but I can help you write your query letter and prepare your submission. It also sometimes helps during an agent search to mention that you’ve already worked with an independent editor as a show of commitment to your project.
Once you’ve found an agent, I’m happy to work together as a team to get your book over the finish line.
